Question     What are the principles of organic growing?

Answer      Organic growing produces wholesome food that is grown and processed using sustainable, non-polluting methods as close as possible to those found in nature
       growing methods should nourish and enrich the soil
       no artificial inputs in the form of synthetic pesticides, herbicides or fertilisers
       pest control should be benign to the overall ecosystem
       genetic diversity should be maintained, including wild plants and wildlife habitats
       no genetically engineered seeds or plants

Question     Are sheds allowed on the allotment site?

Answer     Sheds (max 6'x4'x6' - B&Q smallest size shed) may be erected after first seeking permission from the committee, including a plan of the proposed position of the shed, ensuring that it does not reduce light to a neighbouring allotment or its position is agreed with the said neighbour. The shed should be painted in an earthy colour, such as brown or green.

 

Question     What is being done about drainage on the allotment site?

Answer     The National Trust are obtaining quotations for drainage work.  It is hoped that they - possibly together with us - will be able to insert drains to alleviate the problem within the next twelve months.
